Position:
Education Assistant - Special Needs (Permanent, Full Time)
Location: Forrestfield, Darling Range Sports College.
This is a permanent full-time position commencing as soon as possible.
Darling Range Sports College is an Independent Public School offering specialist sporting programs and a strong inclusive education environment.
The college provides programs in AFL, athletics, baseball, basketball, netball, rugby league, soccer, swimming, triathlon and AFLW in development, with access to modern facilities including a strength and conditioning centre.
Role and Responsibilities
As a Special Needs Education Assistant, under teacher direction you will:
assist with the implementation and delivery of specialised education programs (e.g., Direct Instruction, Corrective Reading)
assist with implementing individual student or small group programs and demonstrations
support the delivery of planned education programs, including operation of computers and digital technologies
provide feedback on education and therapy programs and participate in evaluating progress toward goals in special education
contribute to developing and promoting the school's values, ethos and priorities through strong communication and teamwork
The role requires strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills and a team-focused approach.
Qualifications and Skills
Relevant experience or capability to support students with special needs
Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and support educational and therapy programs
Ability to assist teachers or therapists in implementing educational programs including potential health-related or physiotherapy components as required
Knowledge of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents
Ability to assist with the general health and well-being of students
