The Office of the Assistant Director-General, Human Resources School Operations is seeking a energetic Principal Advisor to support the Assistant Director-General and the executive management by providing high‑level strategic correspondence advice in relation to departmental and divisional matters and preparing and reviewing correspondence items including complex briefing notes, ministerial submissions, reports and other correspondence in accordance with departmental standards and within set timeframes.

Responsibilities
- Consult with departmental officers and brief the Assistant Director‑General, both orally and in writing, as the occasion demands, on emergent and critical issues that may require sensitive management and immediate attention.
- Research, analyse and prepare briefs on complex reports and submissions in order to interpret and render advice on their technical aspects for the Assistant Director‑General’s consideration.
- Prepare and coordinate the preparation of reports, recommendations, submissions, briefing notes, presentations, publications and correspondences on behalf of the Assistant Director‑General.
- Coordinate the flow of correspondences through the branch/division, including distribution, receipting and tracking, to ensure the correspondences are completed accurately and within set deadlines.
- Provide specialist advice relating to legislation and/or policy frameworks administered by the branch/division.
- Utilise standard digital applications and programs including the internet, Microsoft Office suite and Content Manager.
- Communicate confidently, structuring written and oral communication to ensure clarity while responding to all enquiries in a courteous manner and within appropriate timelines.
- Develop, maintain and foster effective networks, consultation and liaison between internal and external stakeholders including other government departments, State and Commonwealth entities, academic and research institutions and other key stakeholders and partners in the support of the Department.
- Work collaboratively and negotiate with colleagues and with other levels of government, industry and non‑government organisations to achieve divisional outcomes and deliver on Government commitments.
