We are seeking an experienced Advertising media strategist to lead the growth of strategic advertising partnerships across our key agency and client portfolio.
This position will play a critical role in ensuring that the Guardian's commercial team has the best-in-class strategic brief responses as well as strong relationships with key strategists within agencies.
**You'll work on**
**Client Strategy**
- Lead strategic responses for high-value clients
- Lead all new business briefs
- Develop strong brief responses with the ability to showcase our impact to a client
- Collaborate with commercial content leads in brief response and ideation process to deliver the highest quality brief response outcomes for both the client and the Guardian
- Develop a go-to-market brief response template and strategy to ensure we have the most impactful collateral, maximizing our chances of success for each brief
- Oversee and quality control all sales brief responses and client/agency presentations to ensure they meet the high standard of excellence expected at the Guardian
- Contribute to post-sales insights and reporting, in order to provide information to a client and build strong relationships for further financial benefit
**Audience strategy**
- Collaborate closely with the insights lead to develop a comprehensive approach on how insights and strategy can complement and intersect for the best client outcomes
- Deep collaboration with audience insights to link the Guardian's strategy to our unique audience
- Collaborate with the insights lead on white papers and industry reports, as well as on agency-focused presentations
- Create feedback loop with the insights lead, ensuring we have the highest quality insights and research required for agency and clients
**External relationships**
- Build strategist-to-strategist relationships with agencies
- Present best-in-class innovations to agencies
- Work with agencies to gain a deep understanding of the requirements on brief responses, creating detailed briefing notes for Guardian Labs and Sales to ensure information is clearly conveyed to each team
**Drive collaboration**
- Create collaborative workflows between sales, Guardian labs and insights departments
- Drive and promote excellence in all brief responses
- Lead quality control on all collateral
**Training**
- Create up-to-date training modules for sales and content to encourage strategic thinking and responses on a regular basis
- Ensure the Sales team is equipped to respond to briefs with the right strategic lens

**Knowledge and experience**
- Extensive knowledge on the use of media strategy in order to shape brief responses and win large advertising deals
- Ability to strategise and implement a plan for revenue growth
- Demonstrated ability to secure high-value partnerships with clients, while building deep and meaningful relationships for the company's benefit
- Relevant marketing/sales qualifications or work experience
- Experience in leading, coaching and inspiring a matrix team
- Commercial awareness and a deep understanding of the Australian media and advertising landscape
