Our client is a well‑respected, family‑owned agricultural equipment manufacturer located in Jandowae, QLD, with over 115 years of industry experience. Specialising in high‑quality cattle handling equipment—including cattle crushes, branding cradles, races, and weigh boxes—they hold an estimated 80% share of the Australian market.
Currently undergoing an exciting growth phase, the business is expanding its production capacity with new facilities and robotics, preparing for an international market expansion. The Role
This newly created, hands‑on position plays a pivotal role in bringing engineering functions in‑house. As the sole Mechanical Engineer, you will collaborate across workshop, leadership, and sales teams to accelerate product development, redesign equipment for robotic welding, and prepare for ERP system integration. Other responsibilities include:
* Design, test, and update 2D/3D models using either AutoCAD or SolidWorks
* Lead new product development across cattle crushes, feeders, yard systems, and ramps
* Redesign products for robotic welding compatibility
* Create BOMs, technical manuals, work instructions, and other customer packages
* Support lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
Skills & Experience
1. Mechanical Engineering degree with 3+ years post‑graduate experience
2. Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks (2D & 3D)
3. Knowledge of fabrication and manufacturing processes
* Ability to develop technical drawings, BOMs, and manuals
* High attention to detail and commitment to engineering integrity
* Excellent communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration
* Ability to lead product redesigns for robotic automation
