The Audit Office of NSW is seeking a Branch Manager experienced in business management, program and resource management and public administration to support the Assistant Auditor-General Performance Audit and the Performance Audit Branch to efficiently deliver a rolling program of performance audits.

We are seeking an experienced Branch Manager for thePerformance Audit Branch. In this role you will provide leadership and support in thecoordination of practice and program management, financial management andbusiness support for the Performance Audit Branch. Reporting to the AssistantAuditor-General and supporting the Performance Audit Executive to managePerformance Audit resource allocation, to optimise resource availability withinthe Branch while effectively aligning capability and expertise to produce highquality audits in line with program priorities. Supporting the efficientdelivery of an annual program of about 20 performance audits at an annual costof about $10M.
Key accountabilities of this role include:
- providing business and administrative support, and authoritative advice on practice management, engagement and collaboration with the other branches of the Audit Office to support the Assistant Auditor-General, Directors and Associate Directors within Performance Audit.
- supporting the Performance Audit Executive to implement effective workforce planning and monitoring and to resolve workforce planning matters and maintain the Audit Office's workforce planning information system (Retain).
- monitoring and overseeing practice and program related matters (e.g. budget, milestones, WIP, FTE) and refresh the design of practice and performance reporting.
- providing co-ordination and liaison with the Quality, Improvement and Performance Branch on practice-related matters including budget preparation, financial and performance management.
- monitoring and identifying issues and solutions to support the Performance Audit Executive to improve financial and performance management. Including assisting with the development and implementation of governance arrangements, business and program management practices. As well as forecasting, financial and performance reporting and periodic budget reviews as they relate to Performance Audit.
- providing co-ordination and liaison with the Corporate, Experience and Strategy Branch to contribute to the development and implementation of corporate strategy and to leverage and integrate enabling services effectively into the work of Performance Audit Branch, including leading the engagement on processes for the production and approval of audit reports.
- leading the adoption and use of digital tools to effectively enable collaborative practices in branch communications, business and practice management, while meeting State records management requirements, including the effective use of the Microsoft suite of applications.
- acting as Branch Secretariat, including for the Performance Audit Executive and Branch meetings, including all secretariat responsibilities such as coordinating items for consideration, preparing business papers, record keeping, distribution, following up on action items and task allocation. Additionally, coordinate and prepare Performance Audit's contributions to briefings, corporate publications, participation in the work of the Australasian Council of Auditors General (ACAG), and other briefing requests.
- supporting the Assistant Auditor-General and the Performance Audit Executive in the coordination and drafting of the Annual Work Plan, including coordinating with the Audit Office and stakeholders to develop plans and manage approval processes for timely publication.
- deliver specific corporate/team objectives to achieve the Audit Office's vision, mission, values, goals, and strategies. Additionally, ensure compliance with the Audit Office Code of Conduct, business rules, procedures, and all internal policies.

What will you need tosucceed?
We are seekingsomeone with excellent written and verbal communication skills, stronginterpersonal skills, and good professional judgement to solve problems. The ideal candidate will have the ability to develop and maintain effectiveworking relationships across the Audit Office.
We are looking forsomeone that will:
-be ready to work across a mix of business, program and administrative activities
-provide executive support and advice as well as be responsible for day-to-day branch management activities
-partner with enabling and technical services to leverage expertise, systems and services
-work collaboratively to develop and implement new and changing practices, processes and systems
-balance a mix of competing priorities and tight deadlines.
You will alsoneed:
- tertiary qualifications or significant experience in Business Administration, Program Management or a relevant field
- contemporary skills and experience in administration and operations management
- well-developed communication and analytical skills with proven experience providing practical solutions to business issues
- strong track record in client service delivery and project management
- demonstrated leadership, interpersonal and people management skills
- experience in developing and maintaining effective internal stakeholder relationships
- to be an Australian permanent resident or citizen or New Zealand citizen.

The Audit Office is committed to supporting flexible workingarrangements to create a diverse, skilled and motivated workforce capable ofdelivering quality products and efficient services. Our standard way of workingrequires you to work at least 50% of contracted hours from either our head office, an auditee location, or a related worksite. Ifrequired, you can balance your attendance on-site over a month, with a minimumof one day per week in one of these locations.
