Overview

Senior Manager, Line 1 Risk and Compliance SME – Investment Services & Fund Services. This role can be based in Sydney or Melbourne. This is a hybrid role with a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office. 12-month contract initially.

What you will do

- Actively identify potential risks across Mercer’s business operations, including financial, operational, compliance, and strategic risks.
- Implement and uplift risk management practices and controls within Mercer, adhering to established policies and procedures to mitigate identified risks.
- Continuously monitor the effectiveness of risk controls and regularly report on risk exposure to senior management and risk committees.
- Ensure Mercer complies with regulatory requirements and internal policies related to risk management.
- Work closely with Line 2 and Line 3 teams to ensure an integrated approach to risk management.
- Support the Investment and Fund Services team with R&C; BAU activities.
- Engage with MSAL business and risk teams, Program Elevate colleagues and management of stakeholder feedback on the Stream deliverables.
- Create evidence and deliverable packages to support meeting the approval criteria in the remediation plan.

What you need to have

- At least 5-10 years’ experience in governance, regulatory compliance or legal roles with experience related to financial services regulation concerning conduct and culture.
- Experience working in or providing services to a regulated Superannuation/Investment financial services business, with ability to interpret and apply associated legislative requirements.
- Ability to demonstrate the role accountabilities described above, with examples including:
- Understanding and ability to operate within Legal, Risk and Compliance frameworks, including strategic and commercial aspects of compliance.
- Ability to provide value-add advice to the Business in respect of risk culture behaviours and consequences, controls, and process matters.
- Ability to analyse data, conduct root cause analysis on risk behaviour indicators, and prepare reports related to risk culture, compliance plans, statutory requirements, regulatory fund lodgements, incidents, and audit risk culture data.
- Strong written and verbal communication.
