Head of Faculty – The Arts
to lead our vibrant secondary arts program, spanning both Visual Arts and Performing Arts. This is a genuine opportunity to influence curriculum, inspire a talented team of educators, and drive outstanding student outcomes across Years 7 to 12.

Key Responsibilities
As
Head of Faculty – The Arts
at John Paul College, you will be responsible for:
Leadership of Learning
Lead The Arts faculty with vision and innovative pedagogical practice across Visual and Performing Arts
Stay abreast of contemporary research and actively promote evidence-based best practice
Contribute to the implementation of the JPC Strategic Vision in alignment with the Dean of Studies
Promote relevant and innovative use of technology in curriculum delivery
Develop and monitor curriculum across The Arts to maximise student engagement and achievement
Ensure students are well prepared to pursue their chosen pathway with strong academic foundations
Monitor and respond to contemporary trends, issues, and programs relevant to the faculty
Lead, motivate, and inspire a collegial team of educators
Facilitate teacher professional renewal, appraisal, and ongoing career development
Create an environment where teachers feel genuinely supported to grow and innovate
Student Achievement
Ensure quality structured teaching, meaningful student feedback, and targeted learning habits (DARTS) are embedded across the faculty
Communicate proactively and sensitively with staff, parents, and students on student academic progress
Budget & Resource Management
Prepare and manage a faculty budget reflecting sound stewardship and strategic alignment with College priorities
Please note:
This is a maximum-term contract position for 4.5 years commencing in Semester 2 2026, with potential for an additional five years at the discretion of the Principal.
The role includes 0.4 FTE load release from classroom teaching duties.
Employment is subject to child safety screening and eligibility for a Blue Card.
We're seeking a dynamic leader who brings:
Current registration with the Queensland College of Teachers (QCT)
Demonstrated track record of faculty leadership, preferably in the independent education sector
Deep knowledge of contemporary curriculum and pedagogy across The Arts (Visual and/or Performing)
Proven capacity to lead, motivate, and inspire a team of accomplished educators
Evidence of strong student achievement and quality outcomes in an Arts context
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Senior First Aid certificate (or ability to obtain)
Working With Children Check and satisfactory employment screening as required by law
