The Opportunity
Are you passionate about securing the future of agriculture and the environment for NSW? We have an exciting opportunity for 16 people, from all walks of life, to join one of our 11 local boards. This includes 15 local board member roles and the Chair of South East Local Land Services.
About Us
Local Land Services (LLS) empowers land managers and farmers to manage biosecurity and climate risks, respond to and recover from emergencies and adverse events, and actively manage natural resources, within productive, sustainable, and cultural landscapes. LLS is an Executive Agency related to the NSW Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) and has approximately 1,000 staff in more than 80 locations around NSW.
LLS is a regionally focused statutory Government agency in NSW delivering quality services to farmers, land managers and the wider community. The agency is responsible for the management and delivery of local services, which cover agriculture, biosecurity, natural resource management and emergency management.
LLS is governed by the LLS Board, with each of the 11 LLS regions represented by a local board. The local boards report to the LLS Board, which is made up of each of the chairs of the local boards, plus the ministerially appointed LLS Chair. Local boards consist of 7 members - 3 members elected by regional ratepayers and 4 members appointed by the Minister for Agriculture, with the exception of the Western region, which has 5 ministerially appointed members and 4 elected members.
