Reporting to the Health, Safety and Training Superintendent, this position is based at our Blair Athol Mine site, and the role and responsibilities include:
• Support the HST Superintendent in the execution of all health, safety, and training functions to enhance site safety performance and workforce competency.
• Facilitate and assist in the implementation and maintenance of the Safety and Health Management System (SHMS) to ensure compliance with Queensland mining legislation.
• Support the review and continuous improvement of site safety policies, procedures, and critical control management.
• Facilitate compliance checks and audits to ensure operational teams adhere to safety requirements.
• Facilitate and assist operational teams in identifying, assessing, and mitigating workplace hazards.
• Conduct and support risk assessments and site inspections, ensuring hazards are documented and corrective actions are implemented.
• Facilitate and assist with incident investigations, conducting root cause analysis and recommending corrective actions.
• Facilitate and assist in the development and delivery of safety training programs, toolbox talks, and safety awareness campaigns.
• Maintain training records and support workforce competency development initiatives.
• Facilitate and assist in emergency response planning, ensuring emergency procedures are up to date.
• Facilitate and assist in safety improvement projects and initiatives to enhance site safety performance.
• Identify and share industry best practices to drive continuous improvement in health and safety.

What You Can Bring to the Role
To play a part in our ongoing success, we are seeking candidates with:
• Minimum Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety.
• Minimum three (3) years coal mining experience.
• ICAM qualifications (desirable).
• Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator (desirable).
• Demonstrated working knowledge of Queensland Coal Mining legislative and statutory requirements.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety and learning management software.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence a diverse workforce.
• Proven ability to deliver engaging safety and training initiatives that drive behavioural change.
• A proactive, solutions-focused mindset and a passion for continuous improvement.
• Confidence in leading toolbox talks, incident investigations, and training sessions.
