As Assistant Under Treasurer, Financial Efficiencies, you will lead strategic advice at the heart of Queensland Government’s fiscal decision‑making. You will deliver authoritative analysis to inform Cabinet, Budget, and whole‑of‑government processes, focusing on driving expenditure and operational efficiencies.
You will design and implement cross‑sector reforms that improve financial performance and value for money, while representing Treasury in complex negotiations and partnering with agencies, industry and the community to support the Government’s priorities.
Key Responsibilities
Senior executive role driving expenditure and efficiency reform
Lead Cabinet and Budget advice with statewide impact
Manage high‑performing teams and influence system‑wide change
Provide authoritative advice, analysis and guidance to the Treasurer, Minister for Finance, senior management, agencies and major stakeholders on issues critical to the Queensland Government’s fiscal performance
Support Cabinet and Budget processes, including engagement with the Cabinet Budget Review Committee
Lead and deliver major cross‑government initiatives to improve expenditure and operational efficiency, underpinned by understanding systems of government, modern approaches to service delivery, financial analysis and effective change management
Drive development of policies and strategies that support sustainable financial outcomes across agencies
Lead and manage multiple professional teams and cross‑agency networks to deliver high‑quality policy, analysis and reform outcomes
Build, develop and sustain capable, engaged teams with a strong focus on performance, collaboration and continuous improvement
Represent Treasury in complex, sensitive negotiations and consultations with Queensland Government agencies, other jurisdictions and commercial suppliers
Build strong strategic partnerships across government, industry and the community to drive innovation and support the Government's priorities
Foster a culture that values integrity, outcomes and evidence‑based decision‑making
Experience and Skills
Outstanding judgment, high‑level integrity, ethics and probity with agility to lead in a complex and evolving environment, strong achievement orientation, and highly developed communication and negotiation skills
Proven record of success as a leader in a large, complex organisation, strong professional leadership and people management capability, high‑level political acumen, and ability to build and sustain productive strategic relationships
Expertise in developing and delivering significant cross‑sector policy and reform initiatives, strong understanding and experience of government processes including Cabinet, Budget and budget estimates
