Position Details
Job Title: Part‐time Faculty Pool – Computer Science or Information Technology Instructor
Location: Southern Wyoming Community College District (multiple campuses). Hourly Rate (if applicable) – $1000 per credit hour. Part‐time, non‐benefited position. Part‐time faculty are eligible for a 25% NWCCD tuition discount for the employee during the semester teaching.
Job Summary
* Provide high‐quality instruction in accordance with the approved course outline of record.
* Participate in general faculty functions related to the educational program and faculty development activities, including assessment of student learning outcomes (SLOs).
* Assignments may include day, evening, fully online, hybrid (partially online) and/or weekend courses.
* Part‐time, temporary, hourly assignments are on an as‐needed basis.
* Part‐time faculty meetings are conducted the week prior to the semester start. Course outlines of record, student learning outcomes to be assessed, and department policies will be provided or reviewed.
Job Duties
Instruct classes as assigned. Participate in general faculty functions related to the educational program and faculty development activities. Assignments may include day, evening, and/or weekend courses or online. Use of Canvas as a Learning Management System (LMS) is required for all courses. Applicants must have a laptop computer with reliable access WIFI. Faculty must adhere to NWCCD's Canvas Course requirements while ensuring demonstrable and documented regular effective contact with students.
Qualifications
Computer Science
* Master's degree or higher in content area from an accredited college or university; OR
* Bachelor's degree in content area from an accredited college or university AND a Master's degree in a related field; OR
* A combination of education and experience that is at least the equivalent of items 1 or 2 above. (Applicants applying on the basis of equivalency must complete all Equivalency questions on their application in addition to all other required materials)
IT, Cyber Security and Computer Applications
* AAS degree in related field required, bachelor's degree preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
* Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
* Excellent computer skills.
* Ability to work in a team with shared responsibilities and agreed upon objectives.
* Competent with modern technology for education and office applications.
* Ability to communicate high expectations for learning and attain high‐level student performance.
* Skills necessary to work with broad spectrum of student abilities.
* Interest and ability to incorporate educational technology.
* Ability to work collaboratively and collegially with partner faculty, community stakeholders and staff.
Experience
* Experience working in Information technology field, required.
* Experience using technology as an instructional tool, preferred.
* Experience coordinating lab activities and purchasing lab supplies, preferred.
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements
* Classroom, Office and Lab Settings.
* Some evenings and weekends as scheduled.
