UNIT Clothing is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Bookkeeper & Payroll Officer to join our growing team on the Gold Coast.
This role is ideal for someone who is highly organised, reliable, and confident managing bookkeeping, payroll, and financial administration in a fast-paced business environment. Experience working within a product or inventory-based business will be highly regarded. We are a family owned business established in 1999.

About the Role
You will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day bookkeeping, payroll, and financial administration functions across the business, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting.
Working closely with management and our external accountants, you will play an important role in maintaining strong financial processes and supporting the ongoing operations of the business.
Key Responsibilities
Bookkeeping & Finance
• Manage day-to-day bookkeeping and financial administration
• Process inter-company transactions
• Manage multi-currency transactions
• Maintain accurate financial records and data entry
• Complete bank and credit card reconciliations
• Perform data file corrections and ongoing maintenance
• Maintain and manage the chart of accounts
• Prepare weekly financial reporting for management
• Manage PAYG, BAS, and ATO-related requirements
• Track liabilities including loans and finance facilities
• Liaise with external accountants and advisors
• Provide ad hoc financial and administrative support to management
Payroll & HR Administration
• Process end-to-end weekly payroll
• Manage timesheets and approvals
• Process employee reimbursements
• Track leave balances and entitlements
• Manage commissions, bonus payments, and final pays
• Coordinate onboarding, including employment contracts, TFN, and superannuation setup
• Manage offboarding documentation and compliance requirements
• Maintain payroll records, HR policies, and procedures
• Ensure compliance with applicable awards, pay rates, and classifications
• Manage STP lodgements and year-end payroll reconciliations
• Process superannuation payments
• Assist with WorkCover and payroll tax administration
Accounts Payable
• Process and verify supplier invoices
• Complete end-of-month supplier statement reconciliations
• Prepare and manage supplier payment runs
• Assist with weekly payable reporting
Accounts Receivable
• Manage invoice entry and receivables administration
• Process customer payments and receipts
• Respond to customer account enquiries
• Update invoices for pricing or due date amendments
• Assist with receivables reporting and follow-up
What We’re Looking For
Essential
• BAS Agent Licence, or relevant qualifications in Accounting or Bookkeeping
• Extensive experience using Xero
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar bookkeeping and payroll role
• Strong understanding of BAS, GST, payroll, and Australian accounting requirements
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Strong organisational and time management skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Confident communication skills with internal teams and external stakeholders
Highly Regarded
• Experience in a fast-paced, growing business
• Experience in a retail, wholesale, e-commerce, or inventory-based business
• Strong understanding of inter-company and multi-entity accounting environments
