Our high performing Information Technology (IT) department has an exciting opportunity for an experienced GIS Developer to join our Applications and Development team to develop, modify and define high quality GIS solutions enabling Council and our customers to work more effectively.
Working closely with the GIS team and stakeholders, you will build and maintain GIS solutions that improve workflows through automation and integrating systems.
Your other key focus areas are:
Design, develop and maintain GIS scripts, applications and workflows.
Provide technical assistance and guidance in the design of Council's GIS systems and services
Consult with internal clients to determine business requirements and design technical solutions to satisfy these needs
Documentation of application design and solutions
Assist the GIS Administrator in setting strategic direction for the development of the GIS system
Our ideal candidate will possess technical expertise in programming languages, particularly Python and ArcPy, as well as proficiency in Power Automate and cloud-based solution design (preferably Azure). These skills are essential for success in this role.
We seek an experienced and technically focused specialist who will contribute to the strategic direction of GIS solutions within Council.
You are highly customer-focused, capable of identifying and driving business change, and adept at building effective working relationships across Council. Your strong analytical and scripting skills, attention to detail, and understanding of the importance of governance within Local Government will be key to your success in this role.
Specifically, you will bring:
Demonstrated ability to analyse and integrate GIS applications with database and web applications using automation and scripting.
Recognised qualifications in Geographical Information Systems or related field and/or equivalent demonstrated experience.
Experience and working knowledge of the ESRI suite of products including ArcGIS Online, Enterprise and Pro, Experience Builder, Field Maps and Survey123.
Demonstrated experience in analysing business problems and identifying and implementing appropriate GIS solutions.
Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
