**ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY**:
The Technical Officer Fire Safety is responsible in ensuring that Cumberland Council is at the forefront of Development Operations practice. This role will assist the Council in meeting it's statutory obligations in regard to the reporting on relevant programs and actions from Council's Community Strategic Plan, Delivery Program and Operational Plan regarding combustible cladding and fire safety ensuring that Councils meets its legislative obligations. You will have the opportunity to provide guidance and assistance to staff on interpretation of requirements and procedures.

The successful applicant will require:

- Relevant Tertiary qualifications in fire safety and/or experience in the fire safety industry.
- Sound knowledge of Volume 1 & 2 (BCA) of the National Construction Code and associated Building legislation
- Extensive knowledge of the Combustible Cladding Regulation 2018
- Sound experience of the development and construction process as applicable to fire safety.
- Sound experience in Fire Safety inspections and reports
- Extensive experience in Environmental Planning & Assessment Act 1979 and regulations and Local Government Act, 1993
- Current Drivers Licence
- Ability to meet deadlines on a daily basis and possession of proven time management
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated experience in issuing Development Control Orders under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act.
- Ability to liaise with customers.

**Position information**: This is a permanent, full-time position, working a 70 hour fortnight, with access to Council's 9 day fortnight Accrued Day Off (ADO).

This role is predominantly located at Council's Merrylands office, with frequent travel required across Council worksites, and may be required to work across any of Council's work locations.

**Salary information**: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.
- Grade 12 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $1,705.18 to $1,960.96 per week, plus 10.5% superannuation
- The commencing salary will be negotiated, taking into consideration the successful applicant's qualifications, skills and experience related to the role
- Access to a leaseback vehicle
