Overview
Join our passionate Human Resources team as a Principal Human Resources Advisor (AO7). This permanent, flexible full-time role is based in Brisbane and reports to the Manager, HR Strategy and Programs. You will manage Senior Executive Service (SES) employment matters, lead innovative HR strategies, and contribute to a positive, inclusive workplace culture with a focus on psychological safety and cultural competence.
This role sits within the Department of Women, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships and Multiculturalism and supports the employment lifecycle of SES, including leadership capability, workplace culture, and safety initiatives.
Responsibilities
Oversee the full SES employment lifecycle, including recruitment, contracts, remuneration, and performance management, ensuring compliance with governing legislation.
Provide expert advice to senior executives and internal stakeholders on SES employment matters, fostering strong relationships and collaboration.
Design, manage, and implement leadership and management development programs to build capability and drive organisational success.
Lead or contribute to HR strategies, policies, and initiatives that promote inclusion, diversity, and a psychologically safe workplace culture.
Monitor workforce data and prepare high-level briefings, reports, and submissions for executive-level audiences.
Support embedding cultural competence and safety through training, education, and professional development.
Engage effectively with senior executives and diverse stakeholders in a fast-paced workplace with competing priorities.
Qualifications
Comprehensive understanding of the Public Sector Act 2022 and other relevant legislation.
Experience in developing and implementing HR strategies that maximise inclusion and diversity.
Strong communication and project management skills; ability to work with diverse stakeholders and senior leaders.
Demonstrated cultural competence, particularly in engaging with Aboriginal peoples and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Commitment to diversity and inclusion and ability to thrive in a dynamic environment.
