About the role

As a WorkSafe Psychosocial Inspector, you will have a vital role in ensuring that workplaces meet their health and safety obligations in relation to psychosocial hazards. You will assist and advise employers, supervisors, and workers on how to make workplaces safe and undertake enforcement action to ensure compliance with health and safety laws. You will also assist Health and Safety Representatives in their role of representing workers on Occupational Health and Safety issues.

You will work and make decisions for complainants and the employers within parameters determined by the Act and organisational policy and procedure.

Key Accountabilities

* You will assess, monitor and enforce compliance to OH&S legislation in the workplace, in accordance with WorkSafe policy and procedure; with a particular focus on workplace bullying, sexual harassment, work‐related violence and other psychosocial hazards.
* You will review incidents, report and determine next steps, including making recommendations for further investigation.
* Stakeholder Relationships: You will represent WorkSafe at a variety of public forums and manage stakeholder relationships according to operational policy and procedure.
* Drive safety and the prevention of disease and injury in Victorian workplaces.
* As a Subject Matter Expert you may be required to support the implementation of projects within the scope of your specialist knowledge and experience.

About you

You are person who is passionate about Health and Safety and wants to make a difference. Your communication and organisational skills are exemplary, and you demonstrate active listening skills and apply a trauma-informed approach to your interactions with distressed and vulnerable people. You are a team-oriented person who enjoys making an impact on your team and stakeholders.

* You will utilise knowledge in Occupational Health and Safety Acts and Regulations and your specific industry sector to influence compliance and to provide expert advice to external stakeholders.
* You will have technical expertise that can be accessed and utilised across teams. You will utilise knowledge of industry standards and codes of practice, work equipment, work practices, standards and operating procedures to support the team and influence and drive compliance.
* You will also possess a degree of knowledge and expertise in relation to psychosocial health & safety which is utilised to provide an effective response to high‐risk issues/problems and/or provide coaching and on‐the‐job development in relation to subject matter expertise.
* Demonstrated ability to liaise in a professional manner with a diverse internal and external client/stakeholder group in a variety of situations; including with individuals who have experienced inappropriate workplace behaviour.
* Tertiary qualifications in OH&S, Investigations, Psychology or Organisational Psychology will be viewed favourably, but are not mandatory.
* A systems‐thinking approach through experience and/or application
* Proficiency in computer systems and technology

Eligibility requirements

* Hold a valid Victorian Drivers Licence (or eligible to transfer).
* Be an Australian or New Zealand Citizen or permanent resident eligible for ongoing employment with WorkSafe Victoria.
* Be living in Victoria upon commencement and able to travel to different locations accross Victoria as needed in this role from time to time.
* Be available to complete each stage of the recruitment process where needed, may include (but not limited to): phone or video screening interview, cognitive & behavioural assessments and an in‐person panel interview.
* Able to complete an in‐person pre‐employment medical in Melbourne (if requested).
* Able to complete a National Criminal History Check and provide two references from recent managers (*if requested).
* Available to commit to the full Inspector Induction training period (*16 weeks approx from time of commencement from 29 June 2026 onwards approx, paid at full salary. Please note the training is held in both our Essendon Fields Training Facility alongside some days in your local office region).
