Within the context of the responsibilities described above under 'Your key responsibilities', the ideal applicant will be someone who can demonstrate the following: * Demonstrated knowledge appropriate to the position with emphasis on sound ability in techniques relevant to clinical microbiology. * Ability to follow instructions, and work conscientiously and accurately with minimum local supervision, with the ability to work alone. * Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills, effective interpersonal skills, and the ability to work alone and co-operatively in a team environment. * A demonstrated commitment to the principles of quality management and continuous quality improvement, and an understanding of the basis of laboratory Quality Control and Quality Assurance programs. * Actively participate in a working environment supporting quality human resource management practices including employment equity, anti-discrimination, occupational health and safety and ethical behaviour.
