This role exists to understand where the market is moving next and turn that insight into clear decisions about where we compete, how we grow market share and how our services evolve to meet changing client demand.
We are a privately owned national construction business entering a significant phase of growth. As we scale, we are seeking a commercially minded strategic leader to bring greater discipline and insight to how we assess markets, prioritise opportunities and shape long‐term growth.
This is not a traditional sales or estimating leadership role. It sits at the intersection of market strategy, commercial positioning, growth planning and strategic pursuits, helping define where the business plays, how it competes and how it continues to evolve its offering in market.
Working closely with the CEO and Executive team, this role will ensure growth decisions are commercially sound, operationally achievable and aligned to the experience we promise clients.
Importantly, this is also a build role. We are not a large corporate with a mature market intelligence capability or perfect data sitting in dashboards. We are seeking someone comfortable working with imperfect information, identifying patterns, asking the right questions and building practical capability over time.
This role will suit someone who enjoys influencing direction in an environment where progress matters more than process for process' sake.
What This Role Will Shape
* Market and sector strategies that guide where the business focuses its effort, investment and growth
* Go‐to‐market positioning and service evolution aligned to changing client demand and market opportunity
* Competitor, client and procurement insights that strengthen commercial decision making
* Strategic bid and pursuit approaches that improve opportunity selection and conversion
* Pricing and commercial positioning that balance competitiveness, margin and long‐term market presence
* Practical market intelligence capability that supports more deliberate and evidence‐based growth decisions
* Greater alignment between market opportunity, operational capability and long‐term business strategy
About You
You are commercially astute, strategically curious and highly pragmatic. You are comfortable operating in environments where not every answer exists in a spreadsheet and where influence, adaptability and initiative matter as much as technical expertise.
You may bring experience from construction, infrastructure, property, facilities, asset services, specialist contracting or another project‐based industry. Backgrounds across strategy, commercial growth, market expansion, consulting, bid leadership or strategic transformation will be highly regarded, particularly where this has involved shaping go‐to‐market direction, positioning or growth strategy.
Success in this role will require someone comfortable moving between strategic thinking and practical execution, with the ability to operate effectively without large support teams, heavily layered structures or perfect information.
You do not need to come from a large corporate environment. In fact, this role is likely to suit someone who can introduce strategic discipline without creating unnecessary complexity.
We are looking for someone who is:
* Analytical and evidence‐based
* Influential and collaborative
* Adaptable and self‐directed
* Commercially curious
* Able to connect strategy with operational reality
Why This Role Matters
Growth is not simply about winning more work. It is about understanding the market, making deliberate choices and building the capability to compete more effectively over time.
This role will help shape how the business grows, bringing greater clarity, confidence and commercial focus to the decisions that matter most.
If you are someone who enjoys identifying opportunity, shaping direction and building practical growth capability in a fast‐moving environment, lets have a confidential conversation.
