About the Role
Due to the growth of the Telfer site and rapid expansion of mining activities at Havieron, we are seeking an experienced Senior Mining Engineer to play a key leadership role at Greatland's Havieron underground operation. As the site ramps up to full scale production, the role will be highly varied, including fast paced development in challenging ground conditions and major mining project works as key infrastructure is established across the site.
Initially part of a small team, this position will transition to being responsible for leading and mentoring the engineering team as it grows, all the while delivering safe, executable and financially sound mine plans that enable operations to achieve budget and production targets.
The role combines strong technical capability with operational awareness, requiring close collaboration with operations, projects and technical disciplines to convert strategic intent into practical, value-adding outcomes.
Key responsibilities
* Establishment of mine infrastructure projects, support and guide contractors in executing these projects.
* Lead, coach and mentor engineers to ensure work is delivered safely, to standard and in line with site procedures.
* Deliver monthly, quarterly and Life-of-Mine forecasts and mining schedules aligned to business objectives.
* Support long-term planning activities, including the development and assessment of multiple mining strategies.
* Develop and maintain the Rolling Monthly Plan to provide clear direction toward budget and production targets.
* Translate planning concepts into executable operational plans for mining and project teams.
* Ensure mine designs and plans are delivered in a timely manner to allow effective review and implementation.
* Work closely with geology, geotechnical, projects, long-term planning and operations teams to achieve integrated outcomes.
* Provide technical supervision, support and direction to contractors and site execution teams.
About You
You are a technically strong underground mining professional with leadership capability and the confidence to influence outcomes across disciplines. You bring a practical, delivery-focused mindset and can step comfortably between planning, production and project environments.
Required qualifications and experience
* Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
* Current Western Australian "C" Class driver's licence.
* St John's Senior First Aid certification.
* WA First Class Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency (preferred).
* Minimum of 5 years' relevant mining industry experience.
* Strong underground hard-rock production and planning experience in mechanised mining environments.
* Ideally a good background in mining infrastructure projects
* Demonstrated experience across short, medium and long-term planning horizons.
* Solid understanding of a range of underground mining methods.
* Sound knowledge of the Work Health and Safety Act and Regulations.
* High level of computer literacy, including Microsoft Office.
* Proficiency in mine planning and design software, ideally Deswik.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively at all organisational levels.
About the Havieron Project
Havieron is a world-class gold-copper development project located 45km east of Telfer in the Paterson Province. Owned 100% by Greatland, Havieron has a multi-decade mine life and will utilise Telfer's existing processing infrastructure. The project is supported by a significant regional exploration portfolio surrounding Telfer.
