The Operations Team at Kids Research (KR), The Children's Hospital at Westmead (CHW), supports computational and PC2 laboratory-based medical research by coordinating the day-to-day operation of the KR buildings. This role encompasses fixed-equipment and building maintenance, monitoring and compliance, risk management, and work health and safety, as well as the provision of in-house services to research staff. Other services to the laboratories are provided by University of Sydney under a co-management agreement. KR Operations works with clinical and laboratory researchers, CHW support services, and external contractors and stakeholders to enable the translation of discovery science into clinical applications across a broad range of clinical areas.

What You'll Be Doing

The Research Facility Technical Officer will be responsible for routine research facility support, general laboratory maintenance, goods receipt and dispatch and associated laboratory clerical duties within the Kids Research Facility located at the Children's Hospital Westmead. The Research Facility Technical Officer is a member of the Research Operations Team who support stakeholders within the Kids Research Facility and ensures an efficient, safe and compliant operating environment for research.

* TAFE qualification in Laboratory Skills or Sterilisation Skills, or equivalent experience.
* Ability to work in a team and autonomously.
* Effective communication skills (written & oral)
* General knowledge and experience with utilising various computer systems with possession of suitable keyboard skills.
* Experience in a laboratory environment
* Willingness to work with infectious material in accordance with required standards.
* An understanding of Office of the Gene Technology Regulator/Physical Containment Level 2 laboratory requirements or a willingness to undertake relevant training/courses, if required.
