About The Role
The Band 5 Statutory Planner (Commercial Application Focus) assists in the delivery of business-related planning services, including the assessment of permit applications and the provision of advice to internal and external stakeholders. Holding a robust and varied workload, the successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to team discussions and assist with process improvement projects. This position is fixed term for 12 months.

About You
To be considered for this exciting opportunity, the City of Ballarat is seeking a town planning professional with a good starting knowledge of the Victoria Planning Provisions, a commercial focus and a positive attitude.
Key Selection Criteria
Recognised tertiary qualification or undertaking recognised studies in Urban Planning or a related discipline;Ideally some experience working in statutory planning, either in state/local government or private practice;Demonstrated understanding of the Victorian Planning Provisions, including ability to interpret the Ballarat Planning Scheme, the Planning & Environment Act 1987, Subdivision Act 1988and related legislation;Demonstrated time management skills, including ability to effectively manage challenging workloads, set priorities, balance competing demands and meet stringent deadlines;Ability to interpret plans and write clear correspondence, including well-structured and reasoned reports and formal advice for both internal and external stakeholders;Demonstrated ability to provide high-level customer service to both internal and external stakeholders;Effective ability to gain the co-operation and understanding of customers and an ability to discuss and resolve planning issues in dispute;Competent IT skills;A current Victorian driver’s license;Knowledge and understanding of health and safety issues relevant to the work area.
