 
        
        For one of our Australian clients, a medical technology company, we are seeking a skilled Embedded Software / Firmware Engineer to join their engineering team based in Perth, on a freelance basis for a 3-month engagement. As part of their team, you will work on the development of advanced monitoring solutions that improve patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and integrate embedded software for medical device applications.
- Work with SafeRTOS and Nordic nRF5 SDK to deliver reliable, real-time embedded solutions.
- Implement and maintain firmware in compliance with medical device safety standards (IEC 62304 or similar).
- Collaborate closely with hardware engineers, test engineers, and the broader R&D; team to ensure seamless system integration.
- Write and maintain explicit documentation for development, testing, and compliance purposes.
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in embedded software/firmware development for safety-critical systems.
- Hands-on expertise with SafeRTOS and Nordic nRF5 SDK.
- Strong knowledge of medical device standards and regulatory compliance.
- Experience in software verification, validation, and integration testing.
- Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and deliver to tight deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in the medical device industry.
- Familiarity with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) development.
- Knowledge of safety-critical design methodologies and embedded test frameworks.
