Chef / Restaurant Manager

Cafe Anthony is seeking an experienced and results-driven Restaurant, Catering & Operations Manager or Chef / Restaurant Manager to take ownership of day-to-day operations, catering growth, and overall business performance.
This role suits a hands-on hospitality professional, ideally from a Sri Lankan or South Asian background, who understands the cuisine, community, and catering market and is ready to lead both operations and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
Restaurant & Operations Management
* Manage day-to-day restaurant operations, kitchen and front-of-house staff
* Oversee opening and closing procedures, service standards, and customer experience
* Ensure compliance with food safety, WHS, and award requirements
Chef & Kitchen Leadership (where applicable)
* Prepare, cook, and present high-quality dishes
* Plan menus and catering offerings in line with business needs
* Maintain food quality, portion control, and kitchen hygiene standards
Catering Business Development
* Develop and grow the catering business across corporate, community, and private events
* Handle catering enquiries, quotations, bookings, and client relationships
* Build partnerships with businesses, temples, churches, schools, and community groups
Pricing, Costing & Profitability
* Manage menu pricing and catering package pricing
* Control food costs, margins, and wastage
* Review and negotiate supplier pricing
Accounting & Payroll Oversight
* Oversee POS reconciliation, cash handling, and daily reporting
* Track sales and expenses and manage supplier invoices
* Liaise with external bookkeeper or accountant
* Manage payroll processes including timesheets, award compliance, and super coordination
Customer Experience & Growth
* Drive customer satisfaction, repeat business, and online reviews
* Handle customer feedback and complaints professionally
About You
• Proven experience as a Restaurant Manager, Catering Manager, Operations Manager, or Chef / Restaurant Manager
• Strong understanding of pricing, food costing, and profitability
• Experience in basic accounting and payroll processes
• Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills
• Familiar with Sri Lankan or South Asian cuisine and catering culture
• Organised, reliable, and business-minded
• Available to work flexible hours including weekends and public holidays
What We Offer
• Salary: AUD $70,000 – $90,000 + super (based on experience and role scope)
