Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced corporate attorney to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of commercial law advisory work, preferably with government procurement and contracting experience.
About the Role:
This is an exceptional opportunity for a talented individual to work as a principal legal officer in the Commercial Law section. As a PLO, you will be responsible for supervising and offering second counsel to lawyers within your team. You will handle technical or sensitive matters, ensuring efficient completion and driving issues forward.
Key Responsibilities:
* Supervise and offer second counsel to lawyers within the team
* Handle technical or sensitive matters, ensuring efficient completion and driving issues forward
* Navigate complex issues through effective stakeholder engagement, clear communication, and subject matter knowledge
* Apply a pragmatic approach to problem-solving and provide exceptional customer service to clients
* Lead a team by developing staff, setting goals, and driving performance through effective management strategies
* Collaborate with Senior Executive Service members for appropriate briefing and escalation
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* Specialized knowledge and experience in commercial law advisory work
* Government procurement and contracting experience is desirable
* High-quality management and leadership skills for senior legal officers' development
* Strong technical legal advice writing, second counselling, and research skills
* Sophisticated relationship management, communication, and negotiation skills for internal and external stakeholders
* The ability to work under pressure and be agile, flexible, and responsive
