What You'll Be Doing
The Children's Short Stay Unit (CSSU) provides care for up to 32 paediatric patients in an inpatient environment. The unit has 28 isolation rooms and 2 double rooms. Patients admitted to CSSU will usually have a length of stay of up to 48hrs before discharge home or transfer to a long stay ward. Patients are admitted under a medical model of care, and are predominantly transferred directly from the emergency department for inpatient care. The patient cohort largely consists of respiratory presentations such as bronchiolitis, asthma, pneumonia & COVID, as well as common childhood illnesses such as fever, poor feeding, UTIs, gastroenteritis, meningitis and seizures. With such a widely varied caseload, CSSU can offer vast opportunities to advance your skills in Paediatric Nursing. We have a have a fantastic team of fun and passionate nurses, including Clinical Nurse Education support 12 hrs/day Mon – Fri & Nurse Practitioners 12hrs/day 7 days a week.
About You
We're looking for someone who:
* Completion of HLT33115 Certificate III in Health Services Assistance (Descriptor Assisting in Nursing Work in Acute Care)
* Relevant experience as an Assistant in Nursing in an acute care area
* Demonstrated ability to be an effective team member
