The Role

This pivotal role of a Controls and Automation Technician is responsible for designing, developing, & maintaining control systems and automation solutions across the site. Working on projects involving the integration of hardware & software components to optimise operational efficiency, enhance safety, & improve productivity.
This role requires a strong understanding of electrical engineering principles, programming skills, and knowledge of control systems.

* System Design & Development:
* Cross-functional teams system requirements & specifications. Design & develop control systems & automation solutions platforms.
* Recommend technologies & methodologies to create system for schematics, diagrams, & technical specifications.
* Programming and Configuration::
* Develop & implement control algorithms & (ladder) logic programming. Configure & program (PLCs), (DCS), (HMIs), & control devices.
* Integrate the control system, sensors, actuators, & communication networks. Conduct debugging of software system functionality.
* System Integration and Commissioning:
* Suppliers & contractors to integrate control systems into processes. Coordinate system installation, testing, & commissioning activities.
* System troubleshooting & resolve issues for performance or interface problems. Fine-tuning parameters, control strategies, & conducting system performance analysis.
* Continuous Improvement:
* Improve, enhance or modify existing control systems requirements.
* Maintain system documentation & update, with the latest industry trends, standards, & technologies related to controls & automation.
* Collaboration and Communication:
* Multidisciplinary teams, including Elect & Mech engineers, electrical & mechanical trades & software developers for troubleshooting & resolution of control system issues.
Experience & Qualifications
* Bach degree in Elect Eng, Automatic Eng, or related field/in-depth industry experience.
* Control systems theory, process control, & automation principles. Programming such as ladder logic, structured text, or function block diagram. Experience with PLCs, DCSs, HMIs, & from manufacturers.
* Industrial communication protocols (OPC, Modbus, Ethernet/IP). Elect & Elect systems, including sensors, actuators, & motor control.
* Read & interpret electrical schematics & technical drawings. Problem-solving skills & the ability to analyse complex systems.
* Communication & teamwork abilities. Strong attention to detail & a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
* Knowledge of relevant safety regulations &standards in the industry.
* 3-5 years' experience in a similar role
