Full time – Fixed term 9 month program

$41.36-$52.82 Per Hour Plus Salary Packaging!

About The Role

The ICU Discovery Program supports Registered Nurses to transition into the specialty area of Intensive Care. This 9-month program combines theoretical learning, clinical exposure and professional support to build the foundations required to pursue postgraduate Critical Care studies. Participants are encouraged to apply for the postgraduate stream following completion of the program, however a position is not guaranteed.

Transition from RN into ICU specialty practice Gain clinical exposure in a supported environment Participate in structured learning and study days Receive support from ICU educators and staff

Key Responsibilities

Deliver safe, evidence-based patient care Work collaboratively within the ICU team Participate in education sessions and learning activities Complete learning packages and clinical assessments Monitor patient condition and escalate care when needed Support patient-centred care and clinical best practice

Skills & Experience

Registered Nurse Division 1 with AHPRA registration Acute nursing experience desirable Strong communication and teamwork skills Commitment to learning and professional development Ability to work in a dynamic clinical environment

Program Structure

Comprehensive orientation to the ICU environment One week supernumerary to the unit Blended learning including study days and clinical activities Bedside teaching and clinical assessments Support from Clinical Educators and ICU staff Six study days throughout the program including ALS

Course Content

Advanced patient assessment ECG interpretation and rhythm strip analysis Non-invasive ventilation Basic mechanical ventilation Haemodynamic monitoring Arterial blood gas interpretation Tracheostomy care Advanced Life Support (ALS) Care of patients with multi-organ failure

This position is paid in accordance with the Nurses and Midwives (Victorian Public Sector) (Single Interest Employers) Enterprise Agreement 2024 - 2028. The classification is Registered Nurse Grade 2 (YP2 - YP9) which ranges from $41.36 - $52.82 per hour.
