Lyka

Offer description

Lyka is an Australian‐founded pet wellness company shaking up an outdated industry to help pets live happier, healthier lives. Despite medical advances, the average pet only reaches 37% of its full potential lifespan, with many suffering from dental disease, cancer, and obesity. We believe pets deserve the same fresh whole‐food nutrition that humans enjoy, so we deliver nutritionally balanced, whole‐food meals directly to Australian doorsteps. As the world's most sustainable pet wellness company, we put pets and our planet first—one bowl at a time.

Over the past years we've served more than 100 million meals to dogs and cats across Australia and are expanding our product range to include disease‐prevention meals, supplements, and new markets. Our team of 250+ pet‐obsessed people builds the next generation of technology and products to empower pet parents to take control of their pets' well‐being.

The Role

As a Procurement Specialist at Lyka, you will support and enhance our procurement function, which sources over 90 % of ingredients from Australian producers. Your focus will be on supplier performance, forecast management, and cost‐optimisation initiatives.

What you'll do

* Supplier Management: monitor on‐time delivery, fill rate, and lead time compliance across our supplier base; act as an escalation point for day‐to‐day non‐conformance; run regular QBRs and proactively manage performance, communications, and contract activities.
* Cost Optimisation: contribute to strategies that optimise procurement costs through direct sourcing, leveraging our growing purchasing power, volume consolidation, and renegotiation.
* Procurement Processes & Systems: operate and maintain procurement processes and tools, supporting ongoing development and optimisation for efficiency and scalability.
* Forecast Management: translate demand plans into supplier‐facing forecasts and ensure every key supplier receives an updated forecast on the agreed cadence.
* Data Analysis and Reporting: gather and analyse procurement data and commodity reports to create insights and recommendations for the procurement team.
* Collaboration: work cross‐functionally with R&D, Manufacturing, CAPEX, and other teams to support procurement initiatives and align with business objectives.
* Cost Savings Pipeline: identify and advance cost‐reduction opportunities—whether through renegotiation, alternative sourcing, volume consolidation, or specification review.

Requirements

* 3+ years' experience in a procurement or supply‐chain role, preferably in the food industry.
* Tertiary qualification in Engineering/Science, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field.
* Strong analytical and problem‐solving abilities, including experience with Total Cost of Ownership models and data‐driven decision‐making.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate ideas and collaborate across teams.
* Demonstrated experience implementing cost‐reduction strategies: reducing waste and improving efficiency.
* Experience working in cross‐functional teams and leading initiatives/projects independently.
* Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERPs (Netsuite preferred).

Benefits

* Work in a fast‐growing start‐up, gaining exposure to the behind‐the‐scenes of hyper‐growth with a physical product.
* Growth and Development: as Lyka expands, you'll encounter new challenges daily and gain progressively greater responsibilities, with an annual L&D budget.
* Work for a sustainability‐focused company: we're Australia's only carbon‐negative and plastic‐negative pet wellness company, dedicated to continuous improvement of our sustainability practices.
* Join a diverse, top‐talent team from varied backgrounds and geographies.
* Up to 18 weeks of paid parental leave top‐up.
* Wellbeing assistance and tools to support your mental and physical health.
* Flexible working: work from wherever you perform your best; we have pet‐friendly offices and industrial kitchens in Sydney and Melbourne.
* Support for pet parents: flexible arrangements for new pets, pet‐friendly offices, discounts, and financial allowance for dog training and care.

We are committed to building inclusive and diverse teams

We celebrate diversity, are devoted to creating an inclusive environment for all staff and encourage people of all backgrounds to apply.
