A Futuristic Approach to Supply Chain Management

We are seeking an experienced Sr. Supply Chain Planner, Indirect (Starbase) to join our team and manage an agile yet robust supply chain that will enable a competitive advantage for the company.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing new methods or processes to ensure a healthy flow of critical components, planning and executing against pre-established sourcing strategies, and identifying the appropriate stock levels and re-order points based on part criticality, lead times, pricing, and rate of consumption.
Main Responsibilities:
* Develop New Methods and Processes: Show initiative in developing new methods or processes to ensure a healthy flow of critical components.
* Sourcing Strategies: Plan, lead, improve, and execute against pre-established sourcing strategies with metrics tracking and results from end-to-end perspective for business and production success.
* Inventory Optimization: Develop strategies for identifying the appropriate stock levels and re-order points based on part criticality, lead times, pricing, rate of consumption, etc.
* Part Retention Policies: Develop strategies and manage part retention policies to optimize warehouse space and reduce stagnant inventory.
* Critical Spares: Work closely with engineering to identify bill of material items that should have critical spares and develop methods for determining the proper quantity of spares.
* Automation: Create systems to automate redundant and repeatable planning and sourcing activities.
* Inventory Monitoring: Monitor inventory levels and demand and initiate purchase signals to maintain healthy stock levels.
* Maximizing Part Movement: Maintain a solid understanding of common parts and adjust internal inventory as needed to maximize part movement and avoid excess inventory & spending.
* DFM Discussions: Inform DFM discussions based on commonly stocked parts.
* Presentation Skills: Present value propositions to SpaceX management, including those related to contract award, cost reviews, cost reduction strategies, and critical supply issues.
* Cost Management: Manage cost aggressively to ensure adherence to project-specific budgets, forecasts, and develop should-cost models for competitive cost analysis.
* Technology Roadmaps: Develop clear technology and commodity roadmaps for current commodity, product, vertical as they relate to future SpaceX programs.
* Liaison Role: Be the liaison between supply chain and engineering for supplier and down selection during NPI while improving or sustaining cost targets.
* Relationship Building: Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships across disciplines and multiple levels of management.
* Supply Base Management: Manage supply base from concept to end of life to ensure continuity of supply (COS) with the right materials driving plan in place and on-time delivery.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
* Advanced degree; or bachelor's degree and 2+ years of experience working in one or more of the following: Engineering, Purchasing, Contract negotiation, Material or production planning, Operations or supply chain management, Material cost control, Master production scheduling.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
* Capable of managing existing external supply chain and suppliers both domestic and globally.
* Vast experience within a commodity (technical procurement, product development, NPI, manufacturing, and negotiating high volume products).
* Individual negotiation skills with the ability to influence.
* Proven track record of taking ownership, successfully negotiating preferred pricing, and driving results.
* Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
* Effective written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
* Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to respond quickly to a fast-moving and ever-changing environment.
* Conducts all activities with the highest level of integrity.
* Experience of planning purchasing of commodity products and 3rd party services working as a team with product development, quality, finance, and sales.
* Prior experience sourcing raw material, plastic, sheet metal, machining, die casting, or thermal forming commodities.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
* Must be able to travel - up to 10% work week travel may be required, including international travel.
* Must be able to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed to meet major milestones.
* This position is based in Brownsville, TX, and requires being onsite - remote work not considered.
