Your new role:

This is an identified vacancy with a genuine occupational requirement for the position to be filled by a candidate indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community. Candidates not meeting this criteria will not be considered.

As a First Nations Clinical Nurse (CN) within Brisbane Metro South Sexual Health, you will provide advanced clinical care, leadership and coordination for patients with complex sexual health needs.

Working autonomously within a multidisciplinary team, this role is pivotal in delivering specialist sexual health services, supporting youth outreach, health promotion, education, quality improvement and research, while contributing to a culturally safe, person-centred model of care.

Key Responsibilities

Provide clinical leadership in assessment, care planning, decision-making and complex case management

Lead and support youth outreach clinics and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health education initiatives

Contribute to service planning, quality improvement, audits and risk management activities

Support unit management activities, portfolios and accreditation standards

About you:

You are an experienced and compassionate Registered Nurse who brings advanced clinical expertise, strong leadership skills and a deep commitment to improving sexual health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. You are confident working autonomously, thrive in complex environments and value collaboration, learning and cultural integrity.

Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person (genuine occupational requirement)

Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA (NMBA)

Demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge in sexual health, HIV and reproductive health nursing

Immunisation and cervical screening qualifications are well regarded

About us:

Metro South Sexual Health (MSSH) is a unit within Infection Management Services at PAH and is responsible for expert clinical sexual health service across Metro South Health.

MSSH provides outpatient clinics within PAH and outreach clinical services across Metro South Health. Clinical services include screening and treatment of sexually transmissible infections, HIV testing, HIV management and HIV pre and post exposure prophylaxis for sexual exposure.

On the spot youth clinics are held at various youth venues for young people to have STI testing through outreach programs, and nurse led hospital clinics increase access for screening to high-risk populations.

The MSSH team includes sexual health and ID physicians, registrars, nurse unit manager, nurse practitioner candidate, clinical nurses, psychologist and administration officers.
