Hume City Council is one of Australia's fastest growing and culturally diverse councils. We put the customer and our community at the centre of all that we do, ensuring our services are efficient and accessible.

We are currently looking for Early Childhood Educators for our Long day Care Services in Craigieburn, Roxburgh Park and Coolaroo.

You will work in a collaborative team of Early Childhood professionals to support the growth and development of children in a play‐based indoor/outdoor program. You will develop and implement innovative children's educational programs in collaboration with staff, families, and children. This will include planning, implementing, and evaluating programs for children and creating inclusive, secure, and interactive learning environments. Sound knowledge of current theory in practice, pedagogy and contemporary early years reforms will complement Council's Early Years team.

What you'll be doing

* Undertake all responsibilities and activities associated with being a nominated supervisor/certified supervisor, to manage the service in accordance with the Education and Care Services National Law Act 2010 and the Education and Care Services National Regulations 2011.
* Act in accordance with the authority delegated by Council in dealing with situations of an urgent nature requiring immediate action, ensuring compliance with the Act and the Regulations.
* Develop in consultation with service staff, families and children, a program that brings together philosophies, children's ideas and interests and uses intentional teaching to scaffold and extend children's learning, encouraging them to be active participants in their own learning.
* Develop and display an educational program that is developmentally and culturally appropriate and reflects an ongoing cycle of planning, which involves observation, gathering and interpretation of information to inform the preparation of environments and experiences to engage children in meaningful learning opportunities. Ensure the program demonstrates links between the tools used to demonstrate children's learning, including specific objectives for individual children.
* Develop a professional collaborative relationship and inclusive partnership with early childhood colleagues to ensure opportunities for children's learning and development continue, encourage communication, promote shared learning, and make learning visible to children, educators, and their families.
* Provide an environment that supports family‐centred practice, encourages and recognises individual family needs, relationships and cultural backgrounds and provides a welcoming atmosphere, including orientation for new families and children.

The skills and experience you'll bring to the role

* Maintain an understanding of Early Childhood governance related policies and guidance, including Early Childhood Australia's Code of Ethics and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
* Excellent interpersonal skills, including an ability to communicate effectively, gain cooperation and work collaboratively with parents, other staff, and the leadership team.
* Display a willingness to continuously improve pedagogy and practice.
* Use initiative and professional judgment in complex situations and work sensitively with the cultural, social, emotional and economic issues of the children and their families.
* Work collaboratively, cooperatively and effectively within a team to achieve a common goal.
* Develop relationships and partnership approaches with families to promote shared learning and collaboration to support children's learning.
* Positively engage with all children.
* Be decisive, proactive and able to solve problems.

Required Certifications & Qualifications
