About the role
Join our team at Mater Health in South Brisbane as a Cook on a casual basis. We are seeking a candidate who is flexible and able to work any day of the week on a rotating roster. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the smooth operation of our kitchen by preparing and presenting high-quality food across all meal periods.
As a Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and presenting hot and cold dishes, following standard portion sizes, recipes, and quality standards. You will maintain a clean work area, undertake kitchen cleaning duties, and ensure stock control and food safety procedures are followed. Additionally, you will work as part of a team to deliver food for patients at the highest standard.
About you
To be successful in this role, you should have:
* Availability to work any day of the week. This does not mean you will work all 7 days, however the ideal candidate would be readily available on any day (occasionally at short notice), as this role supports shift coverage on a permanent rotating roster.
* Current Food Safety Supervisor Certificate
* Demonstrated experience in bulk food preparation
* Ability to read and understand recipes
* Experience with cook/chill processes
* Minimum 3 years previous experience in a health or similar setting
* Proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel
* Effective communication and interpersonal skills
