Newmont Tanami is on Aboriginal freehold land 540km northwest of Alice Springs. It is a long-life, low-cost, world-class asset in a core Newmont region. The Tanami Expansion 2 project, aims to extend the mine life beyond 2040, investing in a hoisting shaft which will increase the production of the underground mine from 2.6 Mtpa to 3.2 Mtpa. Both the successful exploration within the underground operation and implementation of the first Tanami Expansion has laid the foundation to further develop the operation to remain a major contributor to the Newmont portfolio. A fully equipped camp is located 40km from the site offering leisure facilities for those flying in from Perth, Brisbane, Alice Springs or Darwin.

Your Impact
Reporting to the Electrical Supervisor, you will play a key role in maintaining and improving the reliability of electrical systems across Newmont Tanami operations. This role focuses on the safe inspection, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of electrical equipment to support safe, reliable and efficient plant and infrastructure performance.
Working closely with operations and maintenance teams, you will contribute to maintaining high equipment availability while upholding Newmont's strong safety culture and operational standards.
Job description:
As part of our team, you will
• Perform inspection, maintenance and repair of electrical systems and equipment
• Troubleshoot faults and support reliable operation of plant and site infrastructure
• Interpret electrical drawings, job specifications and task requirements
• Maintain accurate maintenance records within SAP or site CMMS systems
• Contribute to preventative maintenance activities and reliability improvements
• Support safe work practices including risk assessments and isolation procedures
• Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to minimise downtime
• Participate in safety meetings, training and continuous improvement initiatives
Profile description:
Prerequisites for your success in this role
• Electrical trade qualification with relevant post-trade experience
• NT Electrical Licence (or willingness to obtain)
• Underground mining maintenance experience highly regarded
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, equipment and safety requirements
• Experience working on materials handling equipment such as crushers, conveyors or silos (advantageous)
• Experience troubleshooting electrical faults, with exposure to PLC systems an advantage
• Experience using SAP or other maintenance management systems desirable
• Working at Heights and Confined Space certifications
• HV Switching and LV Rescue/CPR certifications
• Strong communication, teamwork and time management skills
• Current Australian Driver's Licence
• Mask fit ready
