ABOUT US:
Australian Veteran Health Services (AVHS) is a unique, multi-disciplinary medical service supporting former and current Defence personnel as they transition to civilian life. Established by Veterans for Veterans, we work collaboratively with established medical and ex-service organisations to provide DVA claims support, Permanent Impairment Assessments, Veteran Review Board (VRB) reports, and ADF Transition Medicals.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver high‑quality support across end‑to‑end recruitment and onboarding lifecycle, ensuring a smooth, professional and engaging experience for all candidates and new starters.
* Maintain accurate and compliant employee records within our HRIS, ensuring data integrity and supporting effective workforce reporting.
* Process HR documentation, forms, contracts and correspondence in a timely and compliant manner, upholding confidentiality and organisational standards.
* Coordinate induction and training activities, ensuring new employees feel welcomed, prepared and aligned with AVHS values from day one.
* Support compliance with HR policies, procedures and relevant legislation, helping ensure AVHS maintains strong governance and people‑related risk management.
* Contribute to the development, review and maintenance of HR policies, procedures and compliance documentation, ensuring they remain current, clear and fit‑for‑purpose.
* Support the implementation and delivery of our Learning & Development platform, including LMS administration, compliance tracking and employee support.
* Support organisational WHS compliance by maintaining accurate safety and wellbeing documentation, coordinating WHS induction and training components, supporting WHS policy and procedure development, and escalating identified risks to ensure a safe and compliant workplace
* Assist with HR projects and continuous improvement initiatives, actively seeking opportunities to enhance processes, systems and employee experience.
* Support WHS administration and initiatives, contributing to a safe, healthy and positive workplace environment.
* Assist with employee engagement, development and wellbeing activities, helping foster a connected and supportive culture.
* Contribute to the creation and delivery of cultural initiatives across the business, ensuring alignment with AVHS values and organisational goals.
Selection Criteria
Essential:
* Qualification in Human Resources with minimum 2 years' experience
* Strong understanding of Employment and WHS legislation
* High level of confidentiality and professionalism
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Strong organisational and time management skills
* Strong administration and documentation skills
Desirable:
* Experience with Employment Hero or similar HRIS
* HR experience within the Healthcare sector
* Experience working with Veterans or the ADF
