The University of Notre Dame Australia is a modern, national Catholic university that serves more than 12,000 students across its campuses in Fremantle, Broome and Sydney.With a community of over 1,000 academic and professional staff, Notre Dame is recognised for its personalised learning environment, strong graduate outcomes and holistic educational philosophy rooted in critical thinking, ethics and the Catholic intellectual tradition.About the office The People and Culture team delivers strategic, procedural, and legislative support across Employee Relations, HR Business Partnering, Workforce Planning, Strategy and Transformation, WHS, Employee Services, Recruitment, and HR Technology.About the role Reporting to the Director, this role supports senior leaders by providing expert advice across the full spectrum of HR, including performance management, ER/IR matters, Enterprise Agreement and Award interpretation, change processes, and policy development. The HR Business Partner delivers both strategic guidance and operational HR support, ensuring alignment with industrial and legislative requirements.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide guidance to managers and staff on the operational application of the Enterprise Agreement, University policies, procedures, Modern Awards, and relevant legislation.Deliver clear, timely advice on performance and talent management, ensuring compliance and supporting early intervention to maintain a positive workplace culture.Contribute to and implement HR projects, tools, processes, and systems that support organisational change and effective staff engagement.Collaborate with the People and Culture team and managers to provide high-quality HR insights, data analysis, and reporting to inform decision-making and continuous improvement.Partner with stakeholders to deliver solutions and advice across HR areas including leadership capability, workforce planning, change management, job design, performance management, and organisational development.Manage and resolve employee relations issues, including conflict, disciplinary matters, and performance concerns.Deliver consistent, timely, and responsive HR services.Qualifications, skills & experiencePostgraduate HR qualifications (or working toward).Extensive senior HR/IR business partnering experience in complex environments.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for developing effective HR solutions.Excellent interpersonal and influencing abilities.Proven capability to provide expert HR advice in ambiguous, changing settings.Able to work independently.Strong organisational skills; able to prioritise and meet deadlines under pressure.Excellent written and verbal communication.How to apply Please apply online with a resume and cover letter outlining your suitability for the role.Applications closing date: 10 April 2026For further information on how to apply, please visit: How to apply | Notre DameApplicants are expected to have current and valid work rights in Australia.Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are encouraged to apply.The University is committed to providing a safe, respectful and inclusive working and learning environment.The successful candidate will be required to complete a self-declaration regarding Gender-Based Violence (as required by the National Code) as part of the pre-employment process.
