This is a large, complex and highly regarded Australian corporate with a genuinely national (and international) footprint. Operating in a fast‑paced, multi‑entity environment, the business is known for strong governance, sophisticated reporting and a finance function that is deeply embedded in decision‑making - not sitting on the sidelines.
With scale comes opportunity: exposure to senior stakeholders, listed‑environment disciplines, and a finance team that values technical excellence and commercial thinking. The culture is professional but pragmatic, with clear investment in developing their people.
The role
This is a Group Financial Accountant position sitting within the corporate finance team, offering far more than “month‑end and compliance”.
You’ll play a key role in group consolidation, statutory reporting and technical accounting, while also gaining meaningful exposure to FP&A, board‑level reporting and group‑wide commercial insights - making this an ideal first (or second) move out of public practice.
Key responsibilities include:
* Preparation and review of monthly group consolidations, including eliminations
* Balance sheet ownership and review across multiple entities
* Supporting half‑year and year‑end statutory reporting and external audit
* Partnering with regional finance teams to uplift reporting quality
* Contributing to group FP&A, including budgets, forecasts, variance analysis and commentary
* Assisting with board, executive and Audit & Risk Committee reporting
* Exposure to technical areas such as IFRS 16 leases, fixed assets and group accounting policies
* Involvement in treasury reporting, including cash, debt facilities and covenant monitoring
* Driving continuous improvement across group reporting and controls
This is a role where you’ll quickly move beyond “checking the numbers” and start understanding how the business really works.
About you
You’re likely in public practice right now (audit or business services) and starting to feel the pull toward something more commercial, more strategic, and more impactful.
You want:
* To see how your work is used by senior leaders
* Broader exposure beyond compliance and reporting cycles
* A role that will pay dividends over the next 5–10 years, not just your next title
You’re confident in your technical foundations, but curious about the bigger picture.
Skills and experience
* CA qualified (or close to completion)
* Background in public practice, or a technically strong accounting environment
* Solid understanding of IFRS / AASB standards
* Exposure to group reporting, consolidations or listed‑client audit (highly regarded)
* Strong Excel skills and comfort working with large, complex data sets
* Ability to communicate clearly with stakeholders outside of finance
* A proactive mindset - keen to learn, improve and step up
What’s on offer
* Exposure to group FP&A, commercial reporting and board‑level insights
* Career pathways into Senior Finance, FP&A, Commercial or Group roles
* Strong mentorship from experienced corporate finance leaders
* A role that builds depth, breadth and long‑term career capital
* Competitive remuneration and genuine development focus
* Hybrid working and a professional, supportive team environment
