Overview
Senior role offering extensive training & career development in building surveying approvals and compliance. Base responsibilities include ensuring building work compliance with legislative requirements and supporting enforcement activities within the Local Government context.
Responsibilities
* Check plans, issue building permits and carry out mandatory inspections to ensure compliance with applicable legislative requirements.
* Investigate alleged breaches of the Building Act and Regulations; conduct inspections and perform statutory functions to achieve building compliance.
* Issue statutory Notices and Orders, Direction to Fix and Infringement Notices in accordance with legislation and policy.
* Keep accurate records of investigations suitable for evidence in legal or statutory proceedings.
* Prepare legal briefs and submissions to statutory tribunals and provide evidence in hearings.
* Support flexible and responsive work arrangements to meet work-life balance needs.
Qualifications & Skills
* Registration as a Building Surveyor with the Victorian Building Authority.
* Registration as a Building Inspector with the Victorian Building Authority.
* A tertiary qualification or equivalent in Building Surveying.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Experience in Building Surveying enforcement work and building permit processes is highly regarded.
* Proficiency with computer systems used in Municipal Building surveying offices.
* Current driver's licence.
* Commitment to high standards of customer service and stakeholder engagement.
