About the role:
* Support the Supervisor Pest Management in controlling nuisance insects and vertebrate pests using chemical, physical, and biological methods, while contributing to research activities.
* Apply your strong understanding of pest taxonomy and management strategies to effectively target and control local pest populations.
* Conduct detailed surveys and mapping of mosquito and biting midge breeding sites using GPS, aerial imagery, and topographic maps.
* Operate independently while maintaining spray equipment and other apparatus in a ready-to-use condition.
* Use electronic record management systems to meet organisational and legislative requirements for accurate data and reporting.
* Demonstrate attention to detail, flexibility, and a commitment to client service, while supporting team members during peak periods in a dynamic work environment.

We are seeking:
* Demonstrated mechanical ability to maintain and operate pest control equipment effectively.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills to support reporting, teamwork, and client service.
* Familiarity with using identification keys and stereo microscopes to accurately identify insect specimens.
* Sound knowledge of local insect and vertebrate pests and appropriate control methods within a local government context.
* Proficient in reading topographic maps and interpreting aerial photography for surveying breeding sites.
* Basic computer skills to manage records and support operational tasks using digital systems.
