The position
Canberra Girls Grammar School is looking for a compassionate and professional Director of Boarding to commence Term 4, 2025. This role may suit an existing educational leader, teacher, or a professional from another area such as health or residential care.
The Director of Boarding is a key leadership role in the School responsible for creating a safe, inclusive, and values-driven environment in which Boarders feel supported and empowered to thrive. The role fosters a strong sense of community, guiding staff to care deeply for students to ensure their wellbeing, growth, and success. Working closely with families, guardians and the Day School, the Director serves as a vital connection between home and school, while shaping meaningful boarding experiences that support student development and reflect their unique needs as Boarders.
The successful candidate should demonstrate:
* Experience in a Boarding and/or Pastoral Care leadership role, ideally within a secondary or tertiary educational setting
* Relevant qualifications in education, psychology, wellbeing, or health
* A commitment to supporting the development and wellbeing of adolescent girls
* Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and independently
* Confident, calm, and solutions-focused decision making.
* Personable and approachable, with highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
* Ability to build positive compassionate relationships with students, staff, and families
* A strong understanding of child safeguarding practices and a demonstrated commitment to child safety and wellbeing
As Boarding House positions involve responsibility for the care of female boarders between the ages of 12 and 18, we are seeking female applicants only.
