Overview
This position would suit someone with a robust farming, rural or trade background who enjoys physical outdoor work, operating machinery and being part of a rapid-paced animal facility. This is a very hands-on role. Successful applicants will be expected to complete animal keeping duties in the mornings, followed by maintenance and property work throughout the afternoons.
Responsibilities
* Feeding animals and preparing diets.
* Cleaning animal enclosures and completing daily husbandry tasks.
* Grounds maintenance and mowing.
* Operating machinery including bobcats and wood chippers.
* Weed spraying and general property upkeep.
* Assisting with enclosure construction and repairs.
* Truck driving and transport tasks.
* Welding and fabrication work.
* Knackery work and handling animal feed products.
* Manual handling and physical outdoor labour in all weather conditions.
Essential skills and experience
* Practical experience in farming, rural work, maintenance or similar industries.
* Confidence using machinery and power tools.
* Ability to work independently and problem solve.
* Solid work ethic and willingness to get stuck in.
* Current driver's licence.
* Physically fit and comfortable with demanding outdoor work.
Highly regarded
* Previous zoo keeping or animal industry experience.
* Bobcat or machinery tickets.
* Truck licence.
* Welding/fabrication experience.
* Chemical handling or weed spraying experience.
