WORKPLACE HEALTH & SAFETY MANAGER - Hamilton Island
Hamilton Island is seeking a highly skilled, hands-on Workplace Health & Safety Manager to oversee and strengthen our safety programs across a diverse, multi-industry resort operation. Responsible for the implementation and management of the WHS program for Hamilton Island, you'll focus on continuous safety improvement, driving WHS performance and embedding a strong safety culture.
The role ensures operations comply with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards, while safeguarding Hamilton Island's assets, guests, employees and reputation. It requires a proactive, detail-oriented professional with deep knowledge of regulatory frameworks and a passion for maintaining the highest standards of operational integrity.

Where you'll make an impact
* Provide expert WHS advice and support to leaders and employees across the organisation
* Manage incident response, investigations and risk management, minimising legal and reputational exposure
* Develop and deliver training, resources and tools to embed best practice and compliance
* Foster strong stakeholder relationships, including regulators, government bodies and industry partners
* Proactively identify emerging risks (including psychosocial safety), advising on crisis readiness and due diligence obligations
* Support litigation, insurance claims and regulatory matters with professionalism and rigour
* Oversee external consultants to ensure quality advice, service delivery and budget control
What we're looking for
The WHS Manager works collaboratively across all departments to identify, manage, and mitigate safety risks. This role is suited to a hands-on, highly motivated leader with deep technical knowledge of WHS legislation and industry best practices, particularly in construction and/or logistics, as well as strong stakeholder engagement skills. It offers the opportunity to lead critical safety programs, influence cultural change, and contribute to long-term organisational resilience and compliance. We are seeking a highly skilled professional with the ability to navigate diverse and complex matters. This role offers opportunities to work across a multifaceted business and expand your expertise in emerging and critical areas of safety and risk management.
To be successful, you'll need:
* Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety (Essential)
* 5+ years' experience in WHS management or a similar compliance-driven role (Essential)
* Drivers licence (Essential)
* Experience in regulatory compliance, working with Government Authorities such as the WHSQ (Desirable)
* Experience developing and implementing audit and governance processes and policies (Desirable)
* Significant experience in health and safety within civil infrastructure, transport and logistics and/or large construction projects (Desirable)
* Additional certifications highly regarded: e.g. WHSO Certificate of Authority, Lead Auditor Qualification, ICAM Certification
