Graduate Engineer role at Gordon Brothers Industries (Johnson Controls), supporting industrial refrigeration projects, engineering design, and client solutions in a collaborative team environment.
Overview
The successful applicant will have:
Responsibilities
* Engineering calculations and designs for refrigeration solutions.
* Preparing estimates for minor project work, including tender submissions to client specifications and deadlines.
* Evaluating existing refrigeration plants and assisting clients to modify systems as required.
* Marketing all GBI services to customers, including consulting, contract work, maintenance, and parts supply, with a significant focus on customer support.
* Project management, including negotiation with suppliers, coordination of designs, procurement of materials, coordination of inter-department resources, and project administration.
* Managing project costs and ensuring successful project completion.
* Preparing risk assessments for equipment and project work, ensuring compliance with health and safety systems.
* Developing knowledge of applicable Australian and International standards and ensuring compliance in equipment and project work.
* Drafting for small projects and manufacturing using AutoCAD, Solidworks, and hand sketches.
* Completing safety and engineering audits of refrigeration systems on site and compiling client reports.
* Contributing to the continuous development of internal systems to streamline engineering and project management functions.
* Completing various administrative duties associated with engineering and project management operations.
* Supervising and assisting with commissioning as appropriate.
* Assisting with the delivery of training for internal and external technical personnel as required.
* Taking reasonable care for health and safety of self and others at the workplace.
* Cooperating with GBI management and staff to ensure compliance with health and safety legislation.
* Performing duties as assigned by the supervisor.
* Supporting front-line delivery of GBI's services to customers in line with contractual obligations or as directed by the Projects Leader, Engineering Lead, or Branch Manager.
* Providing outstanding levels of customer satisfaction.
* Developing expertise and becoming fully conversant in all systems under GBI's control.
* Maintaining a proactive approach in rectifying incidents before they arise.
* Maintaining a neat and clean appearance while representing GBI.
Qualifications
* Tertiary qualification (minimum B.Eng.) in Mechanical, Process, or Chemical Engineering.
* Conceptual understanding of creating, reading, and interpreting drawings.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Proactive approach and ability to work autonomously.
* Keenness to learn and develop through contact with various professionals, including fabricators, consultants, and tradespeople.
* Possession of a current valid driver's license.
* Current right to work in Australia.
* Willingness to undergo pre-employment checks, including reference checks, medical, criminal record check, and drug & alcohol testing.
