Nursing Unit Manager Role
The Nursing Unit Manager plays a crucial leadership role in ensuring the provision of high-quality, evidence-based care within the Acute Medicine Service.
Key Responsibilities:
* Leadership and Direction: Provide operational leadership to ensure the development and maintenance of a high-performing Acute Medicine Service.
* Strategic Planning: Operationalise strategic plans and department direction within the Acute Medical Ward, providing operational input into their development.
* Ward Management: Efficiently manage the Acute Medical Ward, integrating nursing practices within Calvary Mater Newcastle.
* Clinical Leadership: Provide leadership for Clinical Acute Medical Services, promoting an integrated service within Calvary Mater Newcastle.
* Care Coordination: Coordinate patient assessment, care planning, care coordination, and continuing management in accordance with professional standards and legislative requirements.
* Research and Evidence-Based Care: Participate in and facilitate the promotion of research and evidence-based care as appropriate.
* Professional Development: Oversee the professional development of all nursing staff and unit-based administrative staff, including effective implementation of CMN Performance Development Program and mandatory education requirements.
* Talent Management: Manage nursing professional issues, ensuring that all services provided are in line with current professional standards of practice.
About You:
* Registration: Registered Nurse authorised to practice by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
* Qualifications: Relevant postgraduate management qualifications or experience, or working towards.
* Experience: Nursing Unit Management or In-Charge experience in an acute/subacute facility and/or ambulatory setting and ability to work proficiently in periods of high demand and activity.
* Skillset: Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and manage a team in a multidisciplinary environment, manage financial and human resources, and demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills.
* Commitment: Commitment to improving healthcare through quality improvement and implementation of evidence-based care.
