If these capabilities are your strengths, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Student Finance Officer in the Student Services and Support, continuing positionBased at the Townsville Bebegu Yumba campus, DouglasHEWL 5: $78,740 - $89,310 per annum plus up to 17% employer superannuation contributions, leave loading and other generous employee benefits
ABOUT THE ROLEAs a Student Finance Officer, you’ll contribute to a positive student experience by supporting the administration and management of student fees and financial processes at the University.The role involves assisting students to understand their financial obligations, responding to account enquiries, and working with students to manage outstanding balances. This includes having professional and empathetic conversations in situations where students may be experiencing financial difficulty.You will also contribute to the administration of University coursework scholarships, bursaries, grants and prizes. Working within a compliance framework, you’ll ensure student fee activities are undertaken in accordance with relevant legislation, policy and procedures.Through clear communication, attention to detail and effective problem solving, you’ll help maintain the accuracy and integrity of student financial records while contributing to a collaborative and high-performing Student Finance and Scholarships team.QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE You may hold a qualification in business, finance or commerce, or bring an equivalent combination of relevant education, training and/or experience. Experience working in higher education or student administration is desirable but not essential. We welcome applicants with transferable skills gained in environments such as customer service, finance administration, accounts, banking, call centres, collections, complaints handling, or other roles involving complex customer interactions.You will demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to manage sensitive or challenging conversations in a professional and respectful manner. You will also bring well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, and guidelines.You bring a high level of attention to detail and accuracy, along with experience using a range of software applications, including the Microsoft Office suite.
