The Council is entering a period of transformation, driven by rapid population growth and shifting community needs. As part of this evolution, the Infrastructure Services directorate is building a refreshed leadership team to deliver streamlined, high-impact services across the municipality.
About the role
As part of this transformation, the Council is seeking a strategic and operationally focused leader to take on the role of Manager City Amenity. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the city's public spaces are clean, safe, and welcoming — reflecting the pride and expectations of the community.
The successful candidate will lead a large, multidisciplinary team responsible for civil maintenance, building maintenance, cleansing, fleet, and the Works Centre operations. This is a high-impact role that requires a balance of strategic thinking, operational excellence, and people leadership.
Key responsibilities:
* Oversee the delivery of civil maintenance services including roads, footpaths, signage, and drainage.
* Manage cleansing operations including the Footscray Central Business district other shopping centres, graffiti removal and the CCTV camera program.
* Manage building maintenance of Council owned or managed buildings.
* Drive continuous improvement in service delivery, compliance, and customer satisfaction.
* Fleet Management including lead the mechanical workshop and also public lighting maintenance.
* Drive continuous improvement in service delivery, compliance, and customer satisfaction.
* Manage the Works Centre operations
* Oversee Footscray cemetery operations and fulfil Trust Secretary responsibilities.
* Build a high-performing, inclusive team culture aligned with Council's values of Respect, Courage, and Integrity.
The ideal candidate will have:
* Demonstrated leadership experience in cleansing management or civil and building infrastructure maintenance.
* Strong contract management and financial acumen.
* Proven ability to lead large operational teams and deliver high-quality public services.
* A collaborative communicator with a focus on innovation and community outcomes.
* A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline is highly desirable.
