The asphalt supervisor is responsible for planning, managing, and overseeing all aspects of road surfacing operations to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality pavement works. A key focus of the role is to maintain strict adherence to health, safety, environment, and quality (HSEQ) standards, promoting a safety-first culture and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and specifications.
Objectives Include:
* Supervise day-to-day asphalt surfacing operations to ensure all works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with project deadlines, budgets, and quality requirements.
* Coordinate and direct 2 surfacing crews on site, overseeing preparation works, tack/bond coat application, asphalt delivery, laying, rolling, and final compaction to achieve the required pavement finish.
* Work closely with the Allocations Manager and other site teams to plan shift activities, schedule plant movements, and maintain a smooth workflow between the asphalt plant and the job site.
* Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, environmental, and quality regulations, standards, and policies.
* Monitor and control project costs, resources, and materials to achieve budget targets and maximize profitability.
* Carry out regular quality checks on site, including temperature checks, visual inspections, surface regularity checks, and compaction monitoring, ensuring works meet specified standards and project specifications.
* Maintain clear communication with site managers, tradesmen, subcontractors, and truck drivers, ensuring everyone understands the plan, responsibilities, and any changes to the program.
