Chief Executive Officer – Mid Coast Connect

Location: Mid North Coast NSW (Kempsey, Port Macquarie, Taree)

Lead with purpose. Inspire change. Empower young people.

Mid Coast Connect (MCC) is seeking a dedicated and community-minded Chief Executive Officer to lead our grassroots organisation and contribute directly to the future of young people on the Mid North Coast.

Since 1997, MCC has worked with schools, businesses and community organisations helping young people access education, training, and employment opportunities.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced manager ready to step into their first CEO role, or for a leader who thrives in a purpose-driven, community‑based role.

As CEO, you will:

* Guide the organisation's development and community programs in partnership with our Board,
* Lead our close-knit regional team with a hands-on, collaborative approach,
* Maintain relationships with local schools, businesses, and community groups,
* Support young people's needs through practical, community-based initiatives,
* Ensure effective program delivery and reporting to stakeholders.

You'll bring:

* Leadership experience (ideally at management level),
* Strong communication and relationship-building skills,
* A genuine commitment to supporting young people in regional communities,
* Sound governance understanding and the ability to work effectively with a Board,
* Hands-on skills in program coordination, budgeting, and team management.

Selection Criteria

Essential

1. Management or leadership experience.
2. Understanding of Board governance.
3. Proven ability to lead and support a small regional team effectively.
4. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with experience building local partnerships.
5. Ability to ensure program coordination, basic financial management, and reporting requirements.
6. Genuine commitment to supporting young people, particularly those facing barriers to education or employment.
7. Practical budget management and operational oversight skills.
8. Ability to track program outcomes and use information to improve service delivery.

Desirable

1. Relevant qualifications in management, education, community development, or related field.
2. Experience living or working in regional/rural communities and understanding local challenges.
3. Familiarity with youth services, employment programs, or education support frameworks.
4. Experience liaising with government agencies or managing grant-funded programs.
5. Knowledge of youth engagement and transition-to-work approaches.
6. Experience preparing funding applications or service reports.
