The Role
This full-time Remote Area Nurse position involves providing primary and emergency health care to residents while collaborating with Aboriginal Health Workers and local service providers.
Responsibilities include:
* Providing primary health care, acute care, and emergency services in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
* Treating acute and chronic medical conditions while managing patient recalls and follow-ups.
* Conducting outreach to outstations and ensuring health checks and screenings are completed.
* Assessing and referring social welfare issues within the community.
* Training, guiding, and supporting Aboriginal Health Workers in clinical duties.
Qualifications and Experience
To qualify, you will need current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse and/or Midwife.
A minimum of three years' remote area or rural nursing experience is preferred, though candidates with strong primary health and clinical skills will also be considered.
Additionally, the following qualifications and background will be highly valued:
* Experience working in Aboriginal health or cross-cultural contexts.
* Experience in Midwifery will be highly regarded.
* Sound knowledge of primary health care principles.
* Advanced clinical assessment, triage, and emergency response skills.
* Demonstrated ability to communicate and work collaboratively in a team setting.
* Cultural sensitivity, adaptability, and initiative in remote settings.
