The Role
As an Investment Analyst, you'll conduct research and analysis supporting Avant's investment strategy reviews, portfolio monitoring, and investment manager selection. You'll work with and help develop financial models, recommend trades to manage asset allocation and liquidity, and contribute to high-quality Investment Committee papers that guide strategic decisions.
Investment Research & Analysis
* Conduct research and analysis and help develop investment recommendations covering Strategic Asset Allocation (SAA), Dynamic Asset Allocation (DAA), Asset Liability Management and investment manager selection
* Run, maintain, and enhance internal models used for investment decision making
Portfolio Monitoring & Trading
* Monitor liquidity, asset allocation, and strategy/fund allocations across portfolios
* Recommend and implement physical and derivatives trades to manage allocations
* Maintain and enhance internal portfolio monitoring models
* Review and improve portfolio management processes
Manager Oversight
* Primary or secondary responsibility for monitoring designated asset class managers
* Establish regular manager meetings and resolve investment-related issues
* Review manager performance and prepare performance commentary
* Track fund/strategy information and review annual due diligence materials
Reporting & Committee Support
* Run and maintain performance and risk reporting models
* Help prepare performance and risk reports and other Investment Committee papers
Team Collaboration
* Support other team members on projects and analysis
* Assist internal stakeholders with investment-related queries
* Contribute to continuous improvement of processes and systems
What You Bring
Essential
* Tertiary qualification in Finance, Economics, or related discipline
* 3+ years investment or finance experience
* Hands‐on experience with financial analysis and quantitative modelling in at least one area: Strategic Asset Allocation, Dynamic/Tactical Asset Allocation, portfolio management, or manager selection
* Excel expertise – advanced modelling and analysis capabilities
* Financial acumen with strong analytical mindset
* Attention to detail when analysing, researching, monitoring and executing
* Initiative and curiosity – you ask the right questions and dig deeper
* Communication skills – translate complex analysis into clear insights
* Influencing skills – ability to influence constructively
Highly Regarded
* Post‐graduate qualifications (CFA, FIAA, CIMA)
* Knowledge of investment markets, investment management and risk management
* Experience with insurance company asset management or ALM
* Investment reporting experience
* Experience writing board or committee papers
