Electrical Designer Project Overview:
Customers deliver projects of purpose that create a lasting positive legacy globally. These large, complex and multi-disciplined projects create jobs, grow economies and provide opportunities for local and regional communities. The Eva Copper Mine Project is a greenfield resource poised to become the largest new mine in Queensland, Australia. It is located in Cloncurry on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon people.
Major Responsibilities:
* Plans, develops, coordinates and reviews design work within a medium-size Electrical design work group on projects of medium size or assignments in support of global business unit
* Produces drawings and documentation in accordance with established design and scope including design of high and low voltage systems, earthing, lighting, e‐rooms, schematics etc. Ensures Electrical systems designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards.
* Coordinates and interfaces as directed with the day‐to‐day technical work of Electrical engineers, scientists, specialists, designers and drafters
* Communicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions to upper management
* Facilitates technical discussions with third parties (client, suppliers, regulators)
* Prepares or oversees the preparation of Electrical design estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule and budget, and manages implementation and performance accordingly
* Develops Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), Bechtel design guides, appropriate Bechtel Standard Computer Applications (BSAPs) and administrative practices
* Coordinates with client representatives as delegated to obtain approval on phases of work
* Reviews and approves key Electrical engineering drawings and calculations and bid summaries
* Mentors Electrical designers and drafters by providing appropriate on‐the‐job training for their professional development
Education and experience:
* Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 10-14 years of relevant work experience
* Previous work experience in design engineering, science or other relevant types of engineering in mining facilities, bulk‐material handling facilities, mineral processing facilities or other large scale industrial plants.
* Previous experience in a construction or field role will be highly regarded.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
* Knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, design criteria, guides & procedures and codes relevant to the electrical discipline.
* Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multidiscipline team for EPC/EPCM projects.
* Highly skilled and proficient in electrical discipline with the ability to resolve a wide range of issues.
